This french toast bake is easy with most of the work being done the night before. It is a crowd favorite and one of my most requested dishes.

- 2 cups of whole milk
- 2 teaspoons of vanilla
- 6 large eggs
Topping:
- 1/2 cup of butter, softened
- 1/2 cup of brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon of cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon of salt
- Optional pecans
Instructions
- Cut up the bread into 1 inch by 1 inch square slices.
- In the microwave or a saucepan completely melt the butter, mix with the cinnamon and brown sugar until a thick paste.
- Move the butter / sugar mixture to a large bowl and add in the milk and vanilla before adding in all six of the eggs. Stir well and
- Butter* a large oven safe dish (I use a cake pan or a cassorole dish). Once greased add in the bread. Pour the egg mixure over the bread and place in the fridge for at least 4 hours and up to 16 hours.
- To make the topping combine all of the ingredients in a bowl and mix until the texture of wet sand. I do this set the night before and leave in the fridge, if you’re going to go this route make sure to create little crumbs.
- Preheat the oven to 375° and remove the soaked bread from the fridge. When oven is preheated place dish in oven for 30 minutes. After 30 minutes pull out the dish and then add the topping, bake for an additional 15 minutes.
- Serve warm with syrup, fresh fruit and whipped cream.
